Student Opportunity Fund

Full-time undergraduate students who want to attend an education conference or event, participate in a group or make a purchase towards others’ benefit are strongly encouraged to apply for funding through the Student Opportunity Fund.

Funding for individuals to support opportunities that will supplement their nursing education such as:

• Nursing/ Health Care Conferences

• Advanced Practice Educational Training

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program

• Student Workshops

• Mental Health First Aid

Opportunities for all nursing students:

• Canadian Nursing Students’ Association Memberships

• Graduation Yearbooks, Graduation Luncheon, Graduation Celebratory Event

• Nursing Games

• Annual Faculty of Health Sciences Formal

Nursing students wishing to request SOF funding must first review the SOF Terms of Reference then submit an application via the Western-Fanshawe Nursing Students’ Association (WFNSA) SOF OWL site.

Those wishing to request funding for a proposal that will benefit students across all three undergraduate Schools (Health Studies, Nursing, Kinesiology) do so through the Faculty of Health Sciences Students’ Council (FHSSC) SOF OWL site.

The SOF application form is available now through the Student Opportunity Fund Nursing Winter 2019 OWL site. This is a joinable site. To locate and access a joinable site:
 

• Sign in to OWL at https://owl.uwo.ca/portal

• Click on Membership tab

• Click on Joinable Sites

• Select Student Opportunity Fund Nursing Winter 2019

• Click on Join

The SOF application form will be posted on OWL when it is available.​

Notes:

• If your application relates specifically to your School/area of study, apply to your School Association (Health Studies, Kinesiology, Nursing) fund.

• If the nature of your application will benefit Health Studies, Kinesiology and Nursing students, apply to the Faculty of Health Sciences Students’ Council (FHSSC) fund.

• You may apply to both your School Association and the Faculty Students’ Council fund if your application pertains to both.

Disclaimer:​

• School Association funding is applicable only to full-time, undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences Schools of Health Studies, Kinesiology and Nursing (Western site).

• Faculty of Health Sciences Students’ Council funding is applicable only to full-time, undergraduate students in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

• Applicants approved for funding must submit:

  • All original receipts for reimbursement before October 1st of the following academic year, and

  • All original travel-related expense receipts within 60 days of the date of the event attended (e.g. conference).

• All decisions by the Student Opportunity Fund selection committees are final.
